How are the sky conditions?  Sky conditions at the Rimrock campground are good for a location this close to a major city.  From the north edge of the park, I measured the sky at 20.8 mag/arc-sec2 many times over the past several years.

Typical naked-eye magnitude limit on a clear, moonless night:

     At the zenith:

6

     East:

4.5

     West:

5.5

     North:

5

     South:

6

Best horizon: A nice meadow is located on the northwest corner of the Rimrock campground that gives a good of the sky in all directions.

Worst horizon: There are peaks to the north and northwest that extend up to about 8 degrees.

Comments from contributor:  I lived and operated an observatory on the northeast corner of this park for 25 years. The Rimrock campground is at an elevation of 9,000 feet ASL, so the sky can be very transparent. Temperatures at night are always cool to cold with temperatures in the 40s F in mid-summer.
